Preppy Puppy
So Tuesday night my uncle came over for dinner, as he always does at least once a month. My mom had a teaching convention to go to that day and my stepdad have been working on the house across the lake (or so I as told) so needless to say they were both gone for the day and it was just me, my sister, and my uncle waiting for them to come home so we could eat dinner. When they finally got home, I had gone to my room and I was on my phone. My mom called me into her room so I went then she said nevermind.... I figured she was acting strange but, I just ignored it. So I went back in my room and was on my phone again, then she called me to dinner. Needless to say I told her to hold on one second and continue to be on my iPhone, then I got yelled at so I followed her the whole way there talking back and that was When I walked into the kitchen and what me and my sister saw was a six week old white lab puppy staring at us in the face. It was such a surprise! We have been begging for a puppy for at least three years and figured we would never get it, we had almost given up but, there it was right in front of us! We decided to name it Cig after the cigarette boats my stepdad races, we already got it a nautical collar and leash as well, this dog will definetly be a boat dog in the future! Sooooo... meet Cig!

DIY: Lilly Pullitzer Minnie Ears
So this year I'll be in Disney World Mardi Gras week and recently I discovered these adorable Lilly Pulitzer Minnie ears online. However, they are $25 then, add the other $18 for shipping! I don't know about you, but I refuse to pay $40 for a pair of Minnie ears... so, I figured out how to make them myself and I figured I would share!
Supplies you'll need:
-hot glue gun
-headband
-foam poster board or cardboard
- Ribbon (both thick and thin)
- Lilly Pulitzer Fabric (for sale on etsy)
- Old tshirt and some paint pens if you would rather save money and.. well, DIY
First begin by tracing a 'Minnie ear shape on the cardboard, you'll need to trace each ear twice. (you will glue them together later for extra support) Then, cut them out. If you took the cheaper route, paint the Lilly Pulitzer pattern pf your choice onto your old tshirt (as I did). Next step is to trace each ear onto your fabric then cut on the lines and glue your pattern onto the ears. Next, glue two ears together to the fabric is facing out, do the same with the other ear.
For the next step you'll need to place your ears on a table however wide apart you think they should be. Then, place the headband a little bit on top of each ear and trace the line over the ear. (this is so when you glue your ears down they fit the curve of the headband perfectly!) After you've cut the curve in your ears you'll need to glue them to your headband then take your thin ribbon and hotglue it to the edges of your ears to cover the fabric and cardboard's edges. (My edges are not done yet in the pictures because I didn't have a thin ribbon yet.) Finally, Tie your big ribbon into a bow, hot gluing the knot edges so it doesn't come undone and glue it in between your two ears.
Hope you enjoyed! Xoxo -Bella Brooks
(Cheaper) Mardi Gras Essentials
Being a teenage girl from New Orleans there's always those typical, preppy "white girl" clothing that everyone wears to Mardi Gras parades, most bring Perlis Clothing, and as you can see from their website below, while cute, their clothing is quite pricy.
http://www.perlis.com/mardi-gras
Now, this post is specifically dedicated to girls like me who have an expensive taste and can't necissarily afford it all, so here's some other Mardi Gras outfit ideas that are just as cute and not as expensive!
The first picture is from YT Clothing and can be found here. In addition to Mardi Gras, this outfit would also be the perfect game day outfit, Geaux Tigers!!

The second picture can be found on a blog called 'Classy in the Classroom' and is the perfect example of a preppy outfit perfect for a night on the parade route!

How to get adorable brand stickers (for free!!)
So recently people have been asking 'how do you get those preppy brand stickers we all love?' Well, that's what this post is all about!
Marley Lilly has stickers on their website are for free and there's plenty to choose from, however, you do have to pay shipping so it ends up coming to about $2.

Southern Tide used to have a sticker request page on their website, however, it no longer exists. So, I emailed them using the email from their website explaining that I love their company and wanted a sticker and they asked for my mailing address and I received 2 stickers within the next two weeks at no cost!

Vineyard Vines is a little more easier to get their stickers considering they sell them on their website for $2, however, I emailed them just as I did Southern Tide explaining my love for the company and received FREE stickers in the mail.
So where do you stick your stickers? Xoxo -Bella Brooks

All About Me
Well I suppose since this is my first post it's my turn to tell you about me! I'm your typical 17 year old southern girl from New Orleans. I love anything Lilly (although I can't always afford it all) and wish to design for her later in life, however, I kind of need to go to college first. With that being said I hope to be attending LSU and possibly being a Golden Girl if I can drop the weight, but I definetly want to rush. This blog I may use for fashion, cheap southern finds like Lilly and Vineyard Vines and all other brands we love to wear but can't always afford in high school and college, or maybe just to simply blog about something that's happened, but regardless, it'll probably have southern written ALL over it. Well, until I figure this blog thing out just bear with me and know there's tons where this came from!
